The self-titled first album of folk and shoegaze artist Giles Corey is an essential listen for all rock fans.
Dan Barrett is best known for his work in the band Have A Nice Life, but his side project Giles Corey is levels ahead of everything else he’s done elsewhere.
This 2011 debut is a 56 minute-long album consisting of nine tracks featuring haunting vocals. The top tracks include “Blackest Bile”and “Spectral Bride.”
Barrett is able to create one of the most beautifully crafted yet saddest records ever. Giles Corey follows Barrett’s own struggles with his mental health and his feelings of loneliness.
This haunting shoegaze and folk record is perfect for anyone who enjoys a more solemn, slow-burning project.
