Baldwin boys varsity lacrosse lost 21-1 to Seneca Valley at a home game on Thursday.

Freshman Alex Myers said Seneca Valley’s boys had more experience and put in more effort as a team.

“They were really experienced in passing and they knew their plays well,” he said.

Sophomore Garrett Pogany, who plays mid-field for the Highlanders, praised Seneca Valley’s attacking players.

“Seneca Valley was good at offense and moving the ball around more,” Pogany said.

Baldwin has only 14 players, and the players are younger than on most teams – with only three juniors and no seniors.

“I think we’ve been off and on this season. We were improving a little but then took a step back in this game,” Pogany said.

This is the fourth game of the season and the Highlanders have not won a game so far, but players have recognized the improvement of their teammates.

Attack player junior Charlie Pickell scored Baldwin’s lone goal in the fourth quarter. Myers said Pickell is experienced and always is motivated.

Pogany praised the efforts of sophomore Trevor Brain.

“We were down on players so he played every position,” Pogany said.

The boys will be playing at Mt. Lebanon next Tuesday.
