Girls softball lost to Pine-Richland, 19-8, at home on Thursday.

Juniors Anna Schumacher and Angelina Caporali hit home runs, and senior Grace Schumacher went 3-3 on the plate for the Highlanders.

“The team did really well hitting this game,” sophomore Kaylee Smolko said.

The varsity field could not be played on, so the game was held on the Baldwin JV field.

“It was different having to play on the JV field, but we did the best we could,” sophomore Gabby Jaquay said.

The team hopes to work on their communication for the next game.

“We need to work on not letting one error turn into multiple and reset to make the next play,” Smolko said.

The Highlanders have lost their first two section games, but are hoping to turn things around with the next game.

“We can focus on taking one play at a time and being patient,” Smolko said.

The Highlanders were scheduled to play Norwin today, but the game has been canceled.
