Yung lean comes out with more atmospheric post-rap.

Swedish rapper Yung Lean has returned with another post-rap-experimental release from his alias, Jonatan Leandoer96.

In collaboration with Danish composer Frederik Vanlentin, Lean has created yet again another atmospheric post-rap album. Sugar World is quite an out-of-the-box album, as its usage of vocals, instrumentals, and sound effects widely range from track to track.

On the opening track, “Nightmare Amusement Park,” a looped electric guitar backs up melodic vocals. The electric guitar, played by Vanlentin, is used on nearly every song. The way the guitar backs everything up perfectly sums up the gloomy yet melancholic atmosphere Lean is trying to portray.

Other top tracks include “Sugar World” and “If I’m Born I Have to Live.” Those tracks stand out with their production, usage of vocal samples, and tone. Each of those songs has a sort of melancholic, rainy summer day feeling to them.

Sugar World has a runtime of 33 minutes for its eight songs. This album is short and sweet, as it leaves listeners wanting more. But at the same time, it seems like there wouldn’t really be a way to expand upon it.
