Twain abandons successful sound on generic `Queen of Me’
February 7, 2023
Shania Twain’s new Queen Of Me is unimpressive and generic.
Shania Twain is known for her twangy, country girl sound, which is nonexistent in this latest album.
The songs on this record all use the same autotuned voice. Listeners cannot even hear her natural vocals, which is one of the things Twain is praised for most – along with her upbeat songs, which are also not present.
Similar melodies are used throughout the whole record, making it hard to differentiate one track from the next.
In addition to unoriginal tones, Twain also uses overused phrases such as “pants on fire” in reference to a liar. In “Pretty Liar,” she repeats the word “liar” and the cliched phrase for the majority of the song, making it sound like a kindergarten tune to discourage untruthfulness.
The one track worth listening to is “Last Day of Summer.” While this won’t make the list of best songs in 2023, it has a good chorus and vocals that are unique to the rest of the album.
Overall, Twain’s new album is one of the worst she has released and is not worth the listen.
