Boys hockey falls to Peters Township
February 1, 2023
Baldwin boys ice hockey lost 6-1 against Peters Township on Tuesday.
“Peters scored three fast goals in the first and then I scored on the power play in the first period to make the score 3-1,” senior Levi McCrea said.
Senior goaltender Alex Golvash was praised for his persistence in blocking shots, especially on breakaways.
“He faced 40 shots and kept us in the game when we weren’t able to score,” McCrea said.
The team is working through these tough losses with momentum and motivation for the future, taking their mistakes as learning opportunities.
“We could work on our defensive zone coverage and convert on stretch passes to make the opponent back up when they are in the offensive zone,” McCrea said. “Momentum for the next game is continuing to work on the power play as our only goal was scored on the power play.”
Senior Brady Zofcin believes that the team needs to work on their mindset heading into future games.
“We need to start going into the games with the mindset that we know we can beat any team in our division and we can’t be intimidated to face anyone,” Zofcin said.
Zofcin believes that the team did well at maneuvering the puck.
“We were more confident than we have been recently at moving the puck and passing to each other,” Zofcin said.
The team plays Canon-McMillan at 9 p.m. Thursday at Ice Castle.
