The Baldwin gymnastics team got first in their section for the second year in a row on Saturday. 

The team competed against Burrell and TJ. 

Junior Ashley Brown said that the team had strong performances in all areas of competition. 

“Freshman Ella Scurry performed well and has an exceptionally clean bar routine,” Brown said. 

Freshman Jewell Stevens said sophomores Sophia Rossa and Abby Rexrode had strong routines considering both athletes are recovering from injuries. Rossa stuck her bar routine, which improved the team’s score. 

The team has moved up a division and now competes in gold for both states and WPIALs. 

“I’m proud that the team has come together and all the hard work has paid off,” Stevens said. 

The next competition is WPIAL Finals at Moon on February 10th.
