The Baldwin girls basketball team lost to Thomas Jefferson Wednesday night in a tough game.

It was a low-scoring game all night, with ups and downs for both teams. It was close until the third quarter, when Thomas Jefferson gained a lead. Baldwin fought back but eventually let Thomas Jefferson regain that lead and finish out the game.

Junior Guard Katie Lucarelli feels that the team’s offense could improve.

“We have great scorers but we need to work the ball more and finish better at the rim,” Lucarelli said.

Lucarelli said sophomore Mary Vargo played well.

“She hustles everywhere and does everything she can to try to get us a win,” Lucarelli said.

Freshman Laci Bernotas feels that the Jaguars hurt the Highlanders with their rebounding and by playing fast.

“They pushed the ball, which made it hard to keep up with, and they got more rebounds than us,” Bernotas said.

With this loss, the girls are now 3-5. Their next game is away against Mars on Dec. 27 at 1:30 pm.
