The Baldwin boys hockey team beat Pine-Richland in an overtime battle Monday night, 3-2.

Senior Dean Reed struck early, giving Baldwin the early lead. Pine-Richland struck back with a goal of its own, but Baldwin regained the lead with a goal from senior Levi McCrea.

Sophomore Gabe Herrle said McCrea’s goal impacted the game in a big way.

“The turning point of the game was Levi’s goal in the second period,” Herrle said.

But Pine Richland then struck back once again, tying the game 2-2. Herrle said Pine-Richland did a good job putting shots on net.

The score was still 2-2 at the end of regulation, sending the game to overtime.

Then senior Joey Stanick scored the game-winning goal for the Highlanders. He said it was good to get to celebrate with his team, especially after last week’s 6-5 overtime loss to Bethel Park.

“It felt great to get a win with the guys and enjoy it after a hard loss last game,” Stanick said.

The boys’ next game is on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at Erie Bank Sports Park against Cathedral Prep.
