Boys soccer fell to Taylor Allderdice, 10-1, on Monday.

Junior Collin Belan and sophomore Anthony DiCesaro agreed that the younger, JV players performed well and proved that they could play at the varsity level when the varsity starters came out of the game.

“The younger guys stepped up and played hard throughout the game,” Belan said.

The last time the Highlanders played Allderdice, they lost by a score of 2-1, so going into this game, Baldwin wanted to come out with a win. But their mindsets just were not in the right space for that to happen, DiCesaro said.

From the beginning, “we weren’t focused and we weren’t playing as a team or like we usually do. It was just an off day,” he said.

Allerdice played well all throughout the game.

“They connected passes a lot more and didn’t turn the ball over as much. They were just being smarter than us,” DiCesaro said.

The Highlanders have things to improve upon besides mentality going into the next game.

“The team can find more intensity and be more prepared before the game,” Belan said.

The next game is at Norwin on Thursday.
