After keeping close in the first quarter on Friday night, Baldwin’s football team fell behind and lost to Peters Township, 50-13.

Junior Andrew Sharp ran for an 80-yard touchdown early in the game followed by a receiving touchdown by junior Keith Mincin. The score at the end of the first quarter was 14-13 in favor of Peters.

By halftime, the Highlanders trailed 29-13, and they were never able to start any kind of comeback.

Sharp and senior AJ Cherico said Mincin played a good game.

“Keith played well defensively,” Cherico said. “He had a nice receiving touchdown.”

Sharp felt the team needed to play a more well rounded game.

“We didn’t play very consistently,” he said. “We just had a few big splash plays that kept us in the game early on.”

Cherico said the defense wasn’t able to stop the short plays.

“We let up too many easy passes,” he said. “We can definitely improve on defense as a whole team.”

The Highlanders play next against Canon Mac at 7 p.m. at home.
