The Baldwin girls soccer team won its first section game of the season on Monday, defeating Hempfield 2-0.

Senior Sara Scheeser said Alexa Meyer was a standout player.

“She’s usually a goalkeeper but has been playing in the field and scored one of our goals yesterday,” Scheeser said.

Senior Goalkeeper Adrianna Grande thought the team played as a whole.

“I thought we moved together up the field into their 50 and stayed on their side most of the game,” Grande said.

The team was hopeful to win this section game, Scheeser said.

“I think it’ll really boost our team’s morale especially since it’s our first section win in a while,” Scheeser said.

Although the team won there are some things that could be improved.

“We could’ve done better with possessing the ball and finding people’s feet instead of just (kicking the ball) up the field or trying to dribble through people,” Scheeser said.

The Highlanders will face Canon-Mac on Wednesday at home at 7:30 p.m. in another section game.
