The Baldwin golf team lost a tough match Wednesday against Peters Township.

In spite of the loss, the players put up a great effort, senior Carson Gregg shot a 46, and senior Nolan Malloy shot a 59.

Senior Will Dempsey was disappointed by the loss, but enjoyed the game.

“We’re just out here to have fun playing golf. We all had a great time,” Dempsey said.

Despite the result, Gregg thought that the team drove the ball well off the tee. However, the team collectively struggled with putting the ball.

“Putting was definitely a huge problem for us. The team plays at South Hills Country Club and the greens there run much differently than at Mount Lebanon golf course,” Gregg said.

Gregg thought that the team suffered as a result of missing four starting varsity players because of other commitments.

“I think we could have had a really good chance if we had our full varsity team,” Gregg said.

The season has been difficult, but Dempsey remains optimistic about future games.

“We have had a rough season so far, but I think we could pick it up towards the end,” Dempsey said.

Gregg is also staying positive despite the team’s 0-7 record.

“It’s not really about the record for me right now. It’s just mainly about hanging out with the guys and having fun playing different courses,” Gregg said.

The team’s next match is Friday against Canon-McMillan at Lindenwood Golf Club.
