Along for the Ride is not interesting and will likely be forgotten in the sea of other coming of age films.

The Netflix new release Along for the Ride offers a drab and forgettable experience.

The movie follows Auden and her adventures in Colby as she works in her stepmother’s shop. She meets Eli and the two embark on night adventures. Auden experiences a fun she’s never felt before.

The film is a textbook coming of age love story. Unfortunately, there is nothing interesting or different about it. Auden is the same “not like other girls” archetype that is present in so many other films. As a love interest, Eli is quite boring.

Besides the lackluster characters, the coloring of the film is dull. It seems like the director is trying to make the film look more realistic. Instead, the film is uninteresting to look at. It would have greatly benefitted from a brighter color grade.

The movie is filled with cringey scenes and does not do anything special.

Overall, Along for the Ride is not interesting and will likely be forgotten in the sea of other coming of age films.
