The baseball team defeated Quaker Valley 3-2 on Thursday to snap a losing streak.

It was Baldwin’s senior rec game as well. Senior Nick Santillo said it felt great to get the win.

“After a streak of losses, it definitely helps us feel better as a whole and gives us a confidence boost going into next week,” he said.

Santillo also said that winning on such an important day makes it feel all the better.

“It feels great to get the win on a night dedicated to the seniors,” he said.

Despite the win, it took a while for the bats to get going for the Highlanders.

“We weren’t able to get our bats going until the sixth inning, when (sophomore) Adam Ledbetter hit a very nice double,” Santillo said.

Senior Liam Gutendorf hit the game-winning RBI and pitched three shutout innings for the save.

“We did everything the right way and played great,” he said. “That is how you win games.”

The Highlanders get back into action on Monday at home against Canon-Mac at 4:15 p.m.
