The Baldwin softball team lost to Chartiers Valley 11-8 on Wednesday

Anna Schumacher and Kaylee Smolko each hit a home run in a game that went back and forth. The team’s defense, though, struggled with errors, which led to the loss.

“We need to have a better defensive plan,” junior Grace Schumacher said.

Sophomore Anna Schumacher said that despite the high score, this was a good game for the Highlanders.

“The game went great,” she said. “When we were down, our energy was still up, and we even came back to take the lead in the fifth inning.”

Anna Schumacher said the team is enjoying playing these games.

“We are having a lot of fun playing as a team. We are all very close and looking forward to each game,” she said.

The Lady Highlanders get back into action today at Mt. Lebanon at 4:15 p.m.
