The boys baseball team lost to Mt. Lebanon 6-3 on Tuesday.

It was a 3-3 game heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

“They put the ball in play and we had a couple sloppy mistakes to lead to them scoring,” senior Nick Santillo said.

Santillo said the team’s four-game losing streak does affect players’ mental approach.

“Losing definitely plays a role in our mentality. No one likes losing,” he said.

Santillo said the key to winning their next game relies on getting more offense going.

“We need to keep the energy on the higher side and hit the balls like we never have before,” Santillo said.

Junior Christian Forgacs felt the team’s defense was good on Tuesday.

“The defense behind me was great when I was pitching,” he said. “We had some amazing plays in the outfield.”

He said the team’s record doesn’t tell the whole story of how the season has gone.

“In all of our section losses, we have had the tying run up to bat in the last inning,” he said. “We just need to put everything together and trust that we can get some wins.”

The Highlanders take the field on Thursday against Quaker Valley at Wallace at 4 p.m. This is their senior recognition night.
