The girls softball team lost to Canon Mac on Friday, 7-2

Freshman Gabby Jaquay attributed the loss to early hitting woes.

“We weren’t really hitting at first. We didn’t start out like we usually do,” she said. “When we did start hitting, it was too late.”

Freshman Ryley Shaw and sophomore Anna Schumacher were the only Highlanders to score runs.

Jaquay also cited some bad luck on defense.

“We were pitching pretty good, but they were hitting to where we couldn’t get to,” she said.

WIth the loss, the team falls to 2-5 on the year.

“We had some injuries holding us back at the start of the season, but I think we are starting to come together,” Jaquay said. “We are getting better each game.”
