Country music fans cannot expect anything out of the ordinary with Thomas Rhett’s new album, Where We Started

The album is centered around Rhett’s appreciation for his wife and the story of how they essentially grew up together. In an interview with Good Morning America, Rhett said “We’ve obviously known each other since we were 14 years old and know each other like the back of our hands. And, you know, I think when you have four kids in the picture, life can get extremely stressful and life can get extremely chaotic.”

Although it is a sweet message about overcoming issues that can arise in long-term relationships, the concept is nothing new for Rhett. Many of Rhett’s songs are centered around his relationship with his wife, with all songs basically saying the same thing.

One of the most popular songs on the new album, “Slow Down Summer,” sounds similar to “Craving You” from his Life Changes album, as they both maintain an energetic beat, with lyrics expressing the excitement of falling in love.

Although the songs are not terribly unique, the album does tell a detailed story of a high school sweetheart relationship. Specifically, the songs, “Mama’s Front Door” and “Angels” capture the storyline of a couple as they grow from teenagers to adults.

Rhett also incorporates features, such as Katy Perry in the song “Where We Started” and Riley Green in “Half Of Me.”

All in all, Rhett maintains his country-pop style throughout the album.
