Baseball falls to Norwin again
April 6, 2022
The boys varsity baseball team lost again to Norwin on Tuesday, 8-2.
This was their second game in as many days against Norwin, with both ending in losses.
“Everyone was hitting the ball. It just wasn’t landing where we needed it to,” senior Nick Santillo said. “On top of that, our energy wasn’t as high as it was in the last game.”
In both games, the team failed to throw strikes, walking too many batters.
“We need to have high energy and just throw more strikes,” Santillo said. “We have been hitting the ball. We have struggled with allowing a large number of walks.”
Senior Liam Gutendorf also said the lack of energy was a factor, but it should not be a permanent issue.
“The lack of energy wasn’t all because of the game,” Gutendorf said. “Everyone was exhausted in general and just beat up.”
The Highlanders’ next game is on Friday at home against an undefeated Bethel Park team. Gutendorf said the Highlanders, despite recent struggles, can win.
“If we throw our strikes, we will win,” he said.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
