Pop rap artist Kyle’s latest album It’s Not So Bad is a half-baked mess.

Pop music in its purest form is great, but Kyle leaves listeners with an unimpressive final product. Despite being known for his hits, he misses on a vast majority of these new tracks.

One of many low points of the record, “Thumb Thru” features a blatant rip-off of Vegas-rapper Baby Keem’s style. From his flow to his vocal inflections, the featured artist lacks much originality. The song in general goes nowhere and has no replay value past its laughable derivativeness.

The album’s highlights include “Unreplaceable,” “Do Not Answer,” “Sleepyhead,” and “Cmon,” though “Cmon” is one of the more underwhelming tracks. The drum and bass style drums on “Do Not Answer,” paired with its great vocal performance, solidifies it as one of the album’s best. “Sleepyhead” finishes the album strong with its catchiness.

The remaining songs are nothing more than average. “Sunday” is a surface level, guitar-oriented trap song with an outro that sounds much better and inventive than the core of the song.

Though the instrumentation of “Personal” is quite creative, Kyle’s vocal performance is lacking. It’s a repetitive song with not much soul put into it, making it sound like a last-minute filler track.

This is an overall uninspired and uncreative album which adds nothing new to the pop nor hip-hop genre.
