The Baldwin boys basketball team split two games over the weekend as the Highlanders get ready for playoffs.

On Friday, the Highlanders picked up a huge win against section rival Bethel Park, 64-59. This win put the Highlanders in third place to end the regular season.

“A major point to our win was that we started off the game fast and jumped on them quickly,” junior James Wesling said

Baldwin was up by 16 at halftime. But Bethel battled and it was a hard-fought game right up until the end.

“Coming out of halftime I feel like we forced the ball over too much on offense and they were capable of capitalizing off of our turnovers,” junior Joey Carr said

The next day the boys traveled down to Oakland to face an exceptional Central Catholic team

“Connor Gitzin and Nate Richards played well on both ends of the floor,” Carr said.

Baldwin would end up losing the game, 44-38

“We didn’t hit our shots, but the positive is we defended well,” Carr said

The Highlanders will find out later today what playoff seed they are and who they will play in the first round.
