The girls varsity basketball team beat Hempfield 78-43 on senior rec night Tuesday.

Senior Heidi Johnston led the way for the team with 30 points.

“It felt amazing scoring that many points in such a great game,” Johnston said. “I really am thankful for my teammates helping get to my goal of scoring that many points.”

She felt the team played a great overall team game.

“We played unselfishly and just went out there and had fun,” she said.

Sophomore Katie Luccarelli felt all the seniors played well on their senior rec night.

“They helped the team consistently on both ends of the floor,” she said. “With it being senior rec night, I am proud of how the girls played and it really did give us a boost going into that game to win for them.”

This improves the Highlanders’ record to 9-8, 4-6 in section play.

The girls play Monday at Hempfield at 7:30 p.m.
