Ice hockey team falls to Seneca Valley

The varsity ice hockey team fell to Seneca Valley 2-1 on Thursday night.
The lone goal was scored by senior Trevor Belak. Senior netminder Eddie Nowicki stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced.
Baldwin trailed the entire game, and their goal came late in the third period.
“I feel like we had trouble generating momentum in the game,” Nowicki said. “Obviously it was a hard-fought game both ways, but I feel since we were down early it took us too long to get our momentum back,” he said.
Senior Lorenzo Shipley said the team struggled to get really into the game.
“We didn’t have our head into the game and it showed from the start. We also didn’t come out and take over the puck drops and that didn’t help either,” he said.
Despite having to make the adjustment to the AAA division, the team is heading into the right direction for playoffs, Nowicki said.
“If we continue at the rate we are playing right now, we will make it into the playoffs, considering most of the teams are about one point from each other. We just have to keep playing our game and not let up,” he said.
The next game is on Thursday at 7 p.m against Pine Richland at Ice Castle.
