Baldwin gymnastics defeated South Side Beaver on Friday in the team’s first meet of the season.

Senior Emily Schwab said the Highlanders had a strong meet.

“We did really well for our first meet and we gained a lot of girls this year, so hopefully we can win more,” Schwab said. “Abby Rexrode really stood out as a freshman.”

Sophomore Ashley Brown said several other Highlanders also stood out.

“Abbey Herrle did well. Her bars were clean,” Brown said. “Katie Oneill stuck her beam routine. Mia Dougherty did well on vault and she has a harder vault routine.”

Brown said the team could work on the beam routines.

“We fell a bunch,” Brown said.

The team’s next meet will be after winter break.
