The boys varsity ice hockey team fell to North Allegheny 3-0 in Monday’s senior rec game.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Highlanders. Baldwin goalie Eddie Nowicki stopped 27 of 30 shots.

Junior Dean Reed felt that the team played a pretty good game, but North Allegheny was too much for them to handle.

“They were a really good team.” Reed said. “They are definitely the best team we have played and will always be a good opponent to us.”

“We played a pretty good game outside of scoring,” he said. “We just had way too many mistakes that really held us back from playing our game,” he said.

Senior Logan Picchi agreed.

“We got into too much penalty trouble and we can’t do that against a good team,” Picchi said.

Picchi also said the Highlanders started well, but things fell through as the game went on.

“Eddie still played good – as usual – and we just couldn’t put the puck in the back of their net”, Picchi said.

The Highlanders’ next game is away against Pine Richland on Monday at 9 p.m.
