Thanksgiving should not be overlooked because of Christmas

Thanksgiving often gets overlooked by Christmas, but should be more appreciated.

Christmas, although in December, starts for a lot of people on Nov. 1.

As soon as October is over, malls are decorated, Christmas music is playing on the radio, and grocery stores start selling Christmas baked goods and candy.

Although many find Christmas to be the most wonderful time of the year, they completely overlook Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving, a time to gather with family and friends, is one of the most thoughtful holidays of the year. People take the time to recollect what they are thankful for, and spend time with the people they love.

Christmas seems to be the most important and favorite holiday to many people. Many people view the holiday season as Christmas every day of November and December except for the week of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving should be celebrated more. Although there is no Thanksgiving music and very few movies, people should take the time to appreciate the meaning of Thanksgiving.

It is understandable to go Christmas shopping early, but companies and the country as a whole take Christmas to a whole new level.

Even on social media, Christmas is favored. For example, on TikTok there are Christmas wish lists, holiday dances, and countdowns before Nov. 1.

Thanksgiving is just as important as Christmas, if not more. Even if Christmas is not all about gift giving, that is definitely a reason why some people love Christmas. Thanksgiving is just about being thankful for the people that we love, and of course the food.

More people should realize the importance of Thanksgiving and celebrate with the people they are thankful for.
