Today after school the cafeteria debuted a new snack cart that offers a la carte items for students who stay after for sports or activities.
Created by the food advisory panel, the Sports Cart will sell food and beverage options before sports or band practice or club meetings. The Sports Cart will be open from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for all students to come and purchase a la carte items before beginning their afternoon activities. It is located in the concession stand across from the gym.
The Sports Cart menu features healthy options, ranging from fruit smoothies to hummus and pretzels, as well as Uno pizza.
“It’s a good opportunity to eat before going to sports practice because eating healthy choices will give you energy and electrolytes before starting practice,” food advisory panel member Keenan Colbert, a sophomore, said.
District Food Service Director Joyce Weber said she is optimistic about the Sports Cart, because the students on the food panel were enthusiastic about it.
