The boys soccer team defeated Brashear High School 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday to pick up its first win of the season.

Brashear had taken the lead in the first half, but senior Avi Gautam tied the score during the second half. When the game went into overtime, senior Cole Thomas intercepted a pass and scored the winning goal.

Senior Sandip Rai said Cole Thomas played well throughout the game.

“He deserved to get the winning goal. His performance throughout the season so far has been great,” he said.

Rai also said the team had better communication and spirit during this game.

“Winning really boosted everyone’s mood. It felt nice to finally get a win,” he said.

Brashear played well and Rai said he was glad that Baldwin was able to get the comeback win.

The victory boosted the team’s motivation, and the Highlanders hope to carry that momentum into future games.
