The Baldwin varsity hockey team beat Greater Latrobe 1-0 Wednesday in the second game of the St. Margaret’s pre-season tournament.

Junior Dean Reed scored the only goal, his first as a varsity player.

“Dean Reed’s goal really helped us out,” senior Lorenzo Shipley said. “It really gave us the confidence we needed to play aggressively on defense.”

Alex Golvash picked up the shutout, stopping all 18 Latrobe shots.

“Our team defense was great last night,” senior Lorenzo Shipley said.

Tonight is the quarterfinal game against Pine-Richland at Alpha Ice Arena at 7:10pm. If they win tonight, they will advance to the semifinal on Saturday.
