The girls varsity softball team fell to Mount Lebanon on Monday, 25-12.

“They just hit all the pitches they faced,” junior Maleah Pacella said. “The first three innings we kept up with them, but come the fourth, it all fell apart.”

Pacella hit a grand slam as well as getting on base everytime she stepped up to the plate.

“We had good baserunning, and our pitchers did what they could,” Pacella said.

Despite the loss, the team is confident they can get back on track. The Highlanders already have qualified for the playoffs.

“We need to work on our defense,” sophomore Grace Schumacher said. “It’s just a reality check that teams are going to get tougher, but if we work as hard as we did against Canon-Mac we can be successful.”

The team’s section record is 3-4. The girls’ next game will be tomorrow at home against Bethel at 7 p.m.
