Opinion: Pentagon confirmation of video, photos adds to UFO interest
April 26, 2021
Recently, the Pentagon confirmed newly leaked video footage of “unidentified aerial phenomena” to be genuine. This comes about a year after the Pentagon had confirmed earlier video footage of similar “UAP” to be authentic.
The newly leaked video was allegedly taken with a night vision camera in 2019 by U.S. Navy personnel. In the footage, triangle-shaped objects can be seen sparkling and moving through the night sky at high speeds. Photographs depicting other strange objects in the sky were also captured by Navy personnel.
In an official statement, the Pentagon said the images and video are part of an ongoing examination of UAPs.
The new images and video originally surfaced online last year, but the Pentagon’s confirmation came just this month.
Some astrophysicists have suggested possible explanations for the occurrences seen in the video clips that were verified last year. These include atmospheric effects, reflections, or even glitches in display and imaging systems of the fighter jets, according to a New York Times story.
In 2020, the Pentagon created a new research team dedicated to documenting UAPs.
Sen. Marco Rubio has been leading a movement in Congress to allow for more transparency in regards to the government’s documentation of UFO sightings, specifically, sightings around U.S. military bases.
Back in December, President Donald Trump signed a $2.3 trillion dollar COVID-19 relief bill. This bill, however, included an Intelligence Authorization Act, which required the CIA, the FBI, the Pentagon, and other US intelligence agencies to declassify information regarding UFOs within 180 days.
The U.S. government is expected to release the highly anticipated report this summer.
This may finally be the opportunity for the public to get long-awaited answers concerning UFOs.
