Review: ‘The Dig’ fails to live up to expectations
March 9, 2021
The Dig stars great actresses such as Lily James and Carey Mulligan, but the movie is thoroughly disappointing.
Based on a true story, the movie is set just before World War II. A widowed single mother hires a self-taught archaeologist to excavate her land. The archaeologist and his team discover a ship from the Dark Ages, changing what historians think.
Though the acting is phenomenal and quite promising, ultimately the story behind it just fails to capture any sort of attention.
With good movies, viewers are enchanted and feel as if they are in the movie. But The Dig only provides a feeling of depersonalization throughout the entire film.
This movie is certainly not recommended for a fun movie night with friends. But it would be more tolerable with grandparents or others who enjoy history-based movies.
