For the second year in a row, Baldwin’s all-night Mini-THON exceeded its fundraising goal for cancer treatment and research.

After raising about $14,600 last year, board members set this year’s goal at $20,000. At the big reveal at 6 a.m. on Saturday, the 150 student participants learned they had raised $23,729.07 over the course of the year. 

Mini-THON started at 6 p.m. Friday with the school talent show. Activities throughout the rest of 12-hour event included a glow dance, a three-on-three basketball tournament, a mat ball game, a life-sized version of the game Hungry, Hungry Hippos, speedball, painting with National Art Honors society students, video games, ping pong, musical chairs, and cornhole.

Sophomore participant Bobby Konesky said he was exhausted afterwards, but he still had a great time.

“I was still doing activities after hour 10, even though I was super tired,” Konesky said. “I really enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to going next year.”

With the addition of some new events, such as human Hungry, Hungry Hippos and musical chairs, students had plenty of activities to do throughout the night.

“My favorite activity was Hungry, Hungry Hippos. It was a very unique experience and extremely fun,” Freshman participant Andrew Barret said.
