The girls basketball team earned a big win against section foe Peters Township on Thursday.

The team took the lead early and maintained it through the game. Junior Abby Marzina was thrilled by her team’s performance. 

“We did a great job denying their star players position of the ball,” Marzina said. 

The whole team played well overall, Marzina said. Sophomore Emily Hillgartner did a good job in defense on Peters’ point guard and slowed her down, Marzina said.

Junior Kayla Radomsky and junior Meghan Dryburgh worked on shutting down the opponent’s star players.

The game was a serious win for the Highlanders as they knocked Peters out of the playoffs.

Their next game is tonight against Fox Chapel.
