The wrestling team lost to Bethel Park on Monday night, but three Baldwin wrestlers had big victories.

Freshman John Starusko recorded a pin and improved to 9-8 on his freshman campaign.

“I’m still getting adjusted to high school. There are more grades to compete against and the kids are a lot stronger, but I like how I’m doing,” Starusko said.

Junior Justin Bochter and freshman Dillon DiGiannurio also had big nights for the Highlanders.

“They both pinned their opponents, so they did pretty well,” Starusko said.

Starusko said the Highlanders are at a disadvantage due to their lack of numbers.

“We don’t have many kids, and we can’t fill weight classes, so we have to forfeit a lot of matches,” Starusko said.

The team fell to 0-3 on the season, but they have a chance to change that Wednesday night at Ringgold.

“I’m confident that we can beat Ringgold tomorrow,” Starusko said.
