The Baldwin girls basketball team defeated McKeesport on Tuesday, 61-59.

Even though it was a non-section match-up, the game was still close.

“We thought it was going to be easier, but we got into foul trouble early,” senior Jenna Lutz said.

But many players, including juniors Meghan Dryburgh and Abby Marzina, stepped up to help lead the team to the win, Lutz said.

Despite the win, there are still aspects of the team’s game they are looking to improve before their next game, which is against Peters Township on Thursday.

“We need to work on our rebounding and our communication could be improved,” Lutz said.

Although it is still early in the season, the team is looking to come out strong against Peters for their long-term goal of getting a playoff spot.
