Baldwin’s boys and girls cross country teams compete in meets and invitationals.

Bolla earns medal at cross country invitational

Junior Gina Bolla excelled at the Red, White, and Blue cross country invitational on Saturday, claiming a medal in the event.

Bolla took 14th place out of more than 200 female runners, with her personal best time of 19:56. It was the first time Bolla earned a medal in the event, although she was close last year.

“This was my first time medalling. I was really close last year, but I’m glad I did it this year,” Bolla said.

Bolla said she is proud of her achievement and hopes to keep up her strong start this year.

“I’m really happy with my results. I didn’t think I would get as far as I did and this means a lot to me. Now, I would like to keep running under 20 minutes for the whole season,” Bolla said

The cross country team has a section meet Tuesday at White Oak, and Bolla said she is ready for the competition.

“This year is a lot more competitive than it has been in the past and I just look forward to great competition this year,” Bolla said.
