Although this movie is written and filmed in an excellent way, the cast comes up lacking in some parts of the movie, which degrades it significantly.

The Curse of La Llorona is a horror movie stemming from Mexican folklore, and is set in the Conjuring universe.

The story takes place in the 1970s, where a social worker fears that some children in her caseload are being abused by their mother. Soon she begins to realize that there is a much stronger force harming these children.

La Llorona roams the night terrorizing children and attempts to steal them from their parents. The social worker’s own children begin to face La Llorona’s terror not long after the children from her case do.

The movie is filled with unexpected jump scares that are similar to the Annabelle movies.

The plot is fairly easy to follow, but what can make the movie more entertaining for viewers is having prior knowledge of the other Conjuring movies, since they are all connected. Some scenes address other Conjuring works, which are incorporated very well into La Llorona.

Special effects are also detailed and vivid, which supports the horror well.
