Consumers have gotten used to fashion trends of the past coming back again decades later and clothing from the 1970s is one of the many popular trends at the moment.

Fashion at this time in history seems to be more about free spirit and comfort than anything else.

Wide-leg pants and pants resembling bell bottoms are some of the most popular clothing items making a return from the ’70s.

Long crochet vests and round sunglasses are also found at many fashion stores.  These clothing items may seem new to today’s youth, but they are actually fashion “trends” that date back more than 40 years.

“I just think the clothes are comfortable but cute at the same time. You can look nice without much effort,” junior Emma Kraus said.

Celebrities like the Kardashians and Jenners are known for their choice of sunglasses resembling the ’70s and it’s hard not to find an Instagram model wearing the trendy wide-legged, flowy pants.

Flower power also seems to have returned with today’s fashion choices, and platform shoes have also become popular.

While the ’70s seem to be back, the fashion trends have a modern twist. A lot of the clothing in the ’70s were made with polyester, which have now been replaced with more comfortable cotton fabrics.

“I just like the look of the clothing. It looks effortless and pretty if you wear it right. There’s so many options of clothing to wear, too,” junior Dominique DiDomenico said.
