Softball knocks ball out of the park in preseason victory
March 14, 2019
The varsity softball team started off its preseason with a bang on Wednesday, earning a 22-2 victory at Fox Chapel.
“It feels really good to get a win going into the season, although I expected nothing less” senior pitcher Addie Tagg said.
The Highlanders had no problem generating offense.
“Our offense did amazing. We hit the ball all over the field,” Tagg said. “We were a little rocky in the first inning, but after that we were almost flawless.”
Tagg said junior Cassie Carlson had a great day at the plate.
Not only did the team play excellent offense, but the girls’ pitching and defense were key factors as well. Tagg and freshman Brookelle Holby had strong outings on the mound.
Even though it was an exhibition game, the Highlanders showed they want to compete and have a big year, Tagg said.
