Representatives from Whitehall borough and Allegheny County joined with Baldwin High School students to mark the completion of the bioswale in front of the high school.
The environmental project was started in September as members of the Whitehall Public Works Department built the frame of the project. Students assisted in the finishing of the green infrastructure along Route 51 by planting more than 570 plants, which were crucial to the success of the project.
Representatives including State Sen. Matt Smith, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, and project planner Dino DeSantis, a Baldwin graduate, cut the ribbon with the Baldwin freshmen and senior students who worked on the project.
