The boys basketball team recorded its first win of the season with a last-second overtime victory on Tuesday night.

The Highlanders defeated West Allegheny 62-60 in a back and forth game.

Senior Christian Barr played the hero, delivering, a clutch game-winning shot at the buzzer at the end of the first overtime period.

“It was originally set up for me to pass it off or take it all the way,” Barr said. “Andy Degenhardt was selfless enough to give me the ball for the final shot.”

Barr was happy to take in the moment.

“It might be one of the best feelings someone could feel, seeing your team behind you and everyone with you,” Barr said. “It’s a great feeling after such a hard-fought game. It’s good to come out on top.”

The team’s next game is at Connellsville on Friday night.
