On the opening night of the season, the Baldwin boys hockey team lost 5-0 to Latrobe on Monday night.

Latrobe took the lead early in the first period, and the Highlanders were not able to counter.

Senior captain Nate Hobson was disappointed in the loss.

¨We put up a great defensive effort, but the forwards couldn´t score,” Hobson said. ¨We had a lot of great chances.”

Sophomore Keith Reed was given the player of the game award by the team.

¨Keith skated hard and played well even when we were down,¨ Hobson said.

Other standout players of the night were juniors Jason Kavulic and Paul Zmuda.

¨It was confusing,¨ Hobson said. ¨We had an off night and it was really disappointing.

Hobson also wanted to thank the fans in the student section who came to cheer the team on.

¨We´re optimistic for the next game and we have time to improve the things we didn´t do right,¨ Hobson said.

The team plays against Penn Trafford next Monday.
