With a win in Tuesday’s WPIAL consolation game, the girls softball team is on its way to states.

The Highlanders won their game against Norwin by a score of 7-1. State playoffs start Monday, with the opponent and location to be determined.

Sophomore Cassie Carlson said Tuesday’s win was one of the best of the season.

“The fact that either we go to states or the season was over really motivated us to play our best,” Carlson said.

Carlson said the team played good defense, only letting Norwin score one run, and all of the Highlanders hit well. Junior Chyanne Chandor collected four RBIs, and junior Addie Tagg pitched a great game, Carlson said.

“This game really helped us come together as a team and we’re excited for states,” Carlson said.
