Playboi Carti disappoints fans with mediocrity

Die Lit, the debut album from Playboi Carti, features Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Skepta, Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, Chief Keef, Young Thug, and producer Pi’erre Bourne. Producer Maaly Raw also appears on some of the songs.

However, even with all of the great features, the album is only mediocre.

Most of the songs sound the same, though some songs and verses from the features give the listeners a reason to come back to the album.

Die Lit arrives after a successful mixtape, the self-titled Playboi Carti, with the hit songs “Magnolia,” and “Woke Up Like This.”

On the new album, “Love Hurts,” the Travis Scott feature, was the first single from the album. Carti repeats the chorus for most of the song, but Scott provides a better-than-average verse that makes the song enjoyable.

“Shoota,” the Lil Uzi feature, is easily the best song on the album, mainly because of Uzi’s verse.

In theory, with all the great features, this album should be much better than it actually is. After hearing it several times, it will grow on listeners. But if they listen just to the solo Carti songs, fans will likely be disappointed.

Sadly, Die Lit does not live up to the standards Carti’s previous mixtape set.
