Infinity War will make fans expectations disappear
April 27, 2018
It took 10 years and 18 films for audiences to see Avengers: Infinity War, and Part 1 has everything that was expected and more.
The spoiler-free plot of the movie is that the Avengers must stop Thanos from getting all the infinity stones. The plot isn’t complex, but it accomplishes its goal of bringing all the heroes together to face a similar foe — like the first Avengers film, but with less arguing.
As for the villain, Thanos has interesting motivations and the audience is able to understand him more than other previous Marvel villains.
The audience sees a lot of protagonists and a few surprising cameos throughout the movie. For the heroes, there’s a lot of interesting, and at times comedic, interactions. This happens because the characters are split up and must work as a unit with other characters who they don’t know well. Each unit has its own vibe, but not every group has one defined leader, which leads to comedy but also confusion .
The second reason Marvel can make this suspenseful film comedic comes from combining the tones of different heroes’ movies. This naturally makes the film both funny and serious, but shows how each hero or team shapes the movie.
Adding the serious aspect of the film contributes to many touching and heartbreaking scenes that leave the audience in a state of shock. Interestingly, the audience knows going in the heroes are the underdogs in this situation. Special attention is given to the heroes’ small victories, but they are never long lasting. If they were concrete victories, it wouldn’t feel like the stakes are as drastic as they are and Marvel wouldn’t be making a Part 2.
The film makes full use of special effects and big battle scenes. The special effects enhance what the audience expects, such as the depiction of Thanos himself and battles, but they also really bring the infinity stones’ powers to life. The battle scenes differ from each other a lot, but the movie audience knows each one is equally important to the fate of the universe. The strategy of flipping back and forth between the two also causes a great deal of cinematic suspense.
The worst part of this movie for most fans is the toll it brings to their favorite characters. Yes, some die, but Marvel fans knew that would happen. The next worst part is how long it takes to get to the end credits scene, which, as every audience knows, gives a hint of what might happen in Part 2.
The bottom line is that people should go see this film because it changes the style and goes against some actions that have been covered in previous Marvel movies. Also audiences should see it because it is an overall great film to watch.
