The girls softball team won 4-2 against Bethel Park on Friday.

Another strong showing of defense and crucial hitting lifted the Highlanders to a 2-1 section record and an overall record of 3-2.

The team was able to figure out the Bethel’s pitcher and find their bats, sophomore Cassie Carlson said.

“Our defense was really strong. … We were hitting pretty well off their pitcher,” Carlson said.

Carlson said junior Salena Jaquay chipped in on some big plays to help secure the victory for the Highlanders.

The team’s next game is Tuesday against Mt. Lebanon, a team that the Highlanders have already defeated in previous section play. Carlson said she and the rest of the team are confident they can step up and walk away with another big section win.
