What’s your favorite slang word? I can find myself saying “gonna.” I cringe but I do it.
How do you feel about the Oxford Comma rule? Oh, I support the comma. I’m a believer in commas.
What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? Go Set a Watchman. I was gravely disappointed.
What’s the best book you’ve ever read? I’m going to stick to one that’s relatable and say To Kill a Mockingbird.
Where’s the ideal place to read? In bed. Or on a beach. Yeah, lounging on a beach.
Is the book better than the movie? The book is always better than the movie.
What is your opinion on Sparknotes? You can reference Sparknotes after you’ve read the work in its entirety to confirm your understanding….but if you simply go to that, that’s shameful
What is your go-to action verb? I like “conveyed.”
Is avoiding the passive voice really necessary? Yes. Emphatically yes. We don’t want to live passively. We want to live actively.
Do you prefer pen or pencil? I like the pencil. I like to have the option to erase. Who doesn’t love a Ticonderoga?.
Do you prefer writing or typing? I’m old school. I like to write it out.
What is your favorite literary device? Irony. Verbal.
Is symbolism overrated? It could be at times. It could just be someone falling. It doesn’t have to turn into the struggle of life. Maybe it’s just a trip.
Do you prefer textbooks or digital books? I’m going to join the 21st century and go digital. Although if you were to say a novel, you can’t do that digitally. It’s just not right.
The Crucible or The Scarlet Letter? The Crucible. Because I feel Abigail Williams just resonates corruption. I like that it’s a testament to society and how easily society gives into that chaos. I feel that it continues to reflect how society can so easily be manipulated.
Italics or bold? I would go bold. Here’s why: my font in general is italicized. I have to go bold to emphasize.
Best show to binge watch?
Oh see, I don’t have netflix. So I don’t know. But if I were to pick one I just discovered “this is us” and I want to go back and binge watch that. That’s a cable show. So I think I can do it.
Fast food or home cooked? I’d love to say homecooked but I have to go with fast food. It’s a toss-up between Chipotle or chick-fil-a.
Do you say sticky notes or post it notes? Post it notes. I’m sorry, but that’s the origin.
Do you say filler paper or loose leaf paper? Loose leaf.
What do you call the end piece you tear off the side of notebook paper?
The spiral edge. That’s the reason I don’t allow spiral notebook paper. However, I’ll allow perforated paper.
