Star Wars release impresses fans

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, the long-awaited second part of the third trilogy of the series, is one of the best films in the history of the franchise.

Rian Johnson, the new director of the series, was held to probably the highest expectations in the entire film industry. He exceeded them.

The Last Jedi relates back to the roots of the first Lucasfilms trilogy, Episodes 4-6. There is a parallel between Rey’s Jedi training in Episode VIII and Luke’s Jedi training in Episode V.

Also, viewers will notice how similar the connection between Rey and Kylo is to that of Luke and Leia. It is not stated whether this connection means something bigger or if it is just a red herring.

As for new information being given, the entirety of Kylo Ren’s backstory is finally revealed, and Luke Skywalker returns to the screen in an unexpected way.

Throughout the movie, however, the viewer is left with more questions that need to be answered. These include a controversial solution to Rey’s past, an unsettling resolution of the Jedi legacy, and the continued dispute between the Rebellion and the First Order.

Overall, the film does not disappoint. Johnson provides the perfect amount of information to leave the viewers satisfied, yet anticipating Episode IX.
